Who’s this guy

Hi, I’m Josh, KZ4LC – a HAM radio operator, tinkerer, and technology enthusiast based in Kentucky.

By day, I work in IT as a field service technician, troubleshooting everything from hardware and software to network issues across multiple sites. That background naturally feeds into my love for radio, where problem-solving, experimentation, and hands-on learning are all part of the experience.

I’m a licensed amateur radio operator with an Amateur Extra class license, and I enjoy exploring both the traditional and modern sides of the hobby. Whether it’s operating portable, experimenting with digital modes, building out off-grid power solutions, or integrating radios with computers and Raspberry Pi setups, I’m always looking for ways to push my station further.

I’m especially interested in:

• Portable and field operations (including Parks on the Air-style setups)
• Digital communications and custom logging tools
• Off-grid and solar-powered radio systems
• Building and modifying equipment to better suit real-world conditions

Outside of radio, I enjoy working on personal tech projects, playing games, and hands-on builds – anything that lets me learn by doing.
